Refuge

An ordinary couple find themselves in extraordinary circumstances. In the future Australia in which this story takes place, an authoritarian government seeks to silence dissidents through imprisonment and disappearances. Upper middle class married couple Laura and James Porter are expecting their first child. James is a lawyer whose firm represents human rights activist groups, while schoolteacher Laura is politically quiescent. When other members of James’s firm are rounded up by government agents, he and Laura are forced to take flight. But first, James must rescue a mysterious briefcase from his home - its contents so sensitive he refuses to discuss it with Laura.
